Maybe a lot of you have seen this, but if you haven’t, Naomi has a caring soul and has a way of explaining things so that people get the point of the matter. This is some exceptional work and deserves to be past around again.

The repercussions since 2001 and the degree to which real freedoms have eroded is staggering. Wake up as many people as you can to the werewolf that is in the hen house.

Gordon Duff ~ ‘Obama surprise admissions in terror talk’

US President Barack Obama speaks during a campaign event at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City, California, on May 23, 2012.
It’s a shame that no American president can speak openly without “wrapping” their words in hyperbole. Thus, Obama’s key speech, making startling admissions of American wrongdoing and mistakes, will be misunderstood and mischaracterized, either because it was incomprehensibly written or purposefully misconstrued.
One key failure of the Obama administration has been his failure to close the illegal detention facility at Guantanamo, Cuba.

However, his statement below and other key areas of his May 23, 2013 policy address may well indicate, not just a final fulfillment of that promise but a beginning to redress some of America’s behaviors that have led to so much suffering.

In order to hold someone to account, it is necessary to actually know what has been said. Toward that end, we will look at what President Obama has promised. We will also examine those critical areas that represent a real policy change and, either give credit where credit is due, or if these initiatives are not followed up on, have a rational basis for criticism.

President Obama addresses the issue of Guantanamo:
“So we bring law of war detention to an end, and we are committed to prosecuting terrorists whenever we can.

The glaring exception to this time-tested approach is the detention center at Guantanamo Bay. The original premise for opening GTMO – that detainees would not be able to challenge their detention – was found unconstitutional five years ago. In the meantime, GTMO has become a symbol around the world for an America that flouts the rule of law. Our allies won’t cooperate with us if they think a terrorist will end up at GTMO…

As President, I have tried to close GTMO. I transferred 67 detainees to other countries before Congress imposed restrictions to effectively prevent us from either transferring detainees to other countries or imprisoning them here in the United States.

These restrictions make no sense. After all, under President Bush, some 530 detainees were transferred from GTMO with Congress’s support… there is no justification beyond politics for Congress to prevent us from closing a facility that should never have been opened.

Today, I once again call on Congress to lift the restrictions on detainee transfers from GTMO.

Even after we take these steps, one issue will remain: how to deal with those GTMO detainees who we know have participated in dangerous plots or attacks, but who cannot be prosecuted – for example because the evidence against them has been compromised or is inadmissible in a court of law. But once we commit to a process of closing GTMO, I am confident that this legacy problem can be resolved, consistent with our commitment to the rule of law.”

As there have been no denials as to the accuracy of key aspects of the statement above, congress, long cited as “in thrall” to the AIPAC lobby, is exposed for its active and continuing role in constitutional abuses.

The media, though airing a speech few listened to, purposefully and systematically chose to censor and edit what was actually said.

Were they to have done their job in a manner consistent with free speech and journalistic ethics, the following points would have been paramount:

OpEdNews ~ The Growing Campaign to Revoke Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 5, 2013 by Spartan of Truth

From OpEdNews

The Nobel Peace Prize that President Obama received 40 months ago has emerged as the most appalling Orwellian award of this century. No, war is not peace.

George Carlin used to riff about oxymorons like “jumbo shrimp,” “genuine imitation,” “political science” and “military intelligence.” But humor is of the gallows sort when we consider the absurdity and tragedy of the world’s most important peace prize honoring the world’s top war maker.

This week, a challenge has begun with the launch of a  petition urging the Norwegian Nobel Committee to revoke Obama’s Peace Prize . By midnight of the first day, nearly 10,000 people had signed. The online petition simply tells the Nobel committee: “I urge you to rescind the Nobel Peace Prize that was awarded to Barack Obama.”

In total some 25 strikes are expected to be examined in detail. The senior British barrister will work alongside international criminal lawyers, a senior Pakistani judge and one of the UK’s leading forensic pathologists, as well as experts from Pakistan and Yemen. Also joining the team is a serving judge-advocate with the US military ‘who is assisting the inquiry in his personal capacity.’Emmerson told reporters: ’Those states using this technology and those on whose territory it is used are under an international law obligation to establish effective independent and impartial investigations into any drone attack in which it is plausibly alleged that civilian casualties were sustained.’

But in the absence of such investigations by the US and others, the UN would carry out investigations ‘in the final resort’, he said.

Last week, the London Times, owned by Rupert Murdoch, a “stealth” Israeli citizen and powerful Likudist leader, ran a purposefully false news story. His “tale” involved the use by Israel of bases within Azerbaijan by drones to plan attacks on Iran.

Azerbaijan’s president quickly denied the report, pledged his solidarity with Iran and demanded a retraction. The Times had no source for the report. It was invented.

Sources tell us the story was run as part of a fraudulent manipulation of oil markets.
Billions were made in hours.

When the “denial” was published, billions more were made through illegal “shot selling.”

When government, the military, the financial market, media and world terrorism become part of the same “corporate society,” there is big money to be made.

Turn on your television, watch the news. The story is in front of you every day.

One day, an Israeli official will announce, as we saw with Defense Minister Ehud Barak back in August while interviewed by Mossad “news asset” Wolf Blitzer, that “Iran has no nuclear weapons program.”

Barak’s statement could have been based on intelligence reports that, consistently since 2007 and before, have indicated that Iran has no nuclear weapons program.

It could have been based on reports from those who run Israel’s own illicit nuke program, one the UN General Assembly recently voted to curtail, clear knowledge that a nation that actively builds illegal weapons of mass destruction knows when another nation is not.

Press TV: Secret Intel Move Replaces CIA – “Lie Machine”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 6, 2012 by Spartan of Truth

From Veteran’s Today

By Gordon Duff and Press TV

“We have seen it with our veterans, the “crusader armies” sent out to strike down the terror armies responsible for 9/11.  When America sent out her warriors, her “chosen,” little were they aware they were as those who had gone before, those “chosen” to be used up, discarded and despised.”

There has been a war inside the American intelligence community between two factions. On one side, a war between the “technogeeks,” those who spy from afar, who plot, who fabricate, who imagine, who create intelligence, not based on the reality of the world but on the needs of the powerful, the need to “certify lies” and those who would restore a human equation.

If it serves “money” and power for the “geek squad” to say Iran is making nuclear weapons or that a man in a cave defeated America’s air defenses, if it serves “money” to talk of weapons that don’t exist and terror groups that “never were,” the “geek squad” simply makes it up.

This is what the CIA has become, a largely privatized system of “brown nosers” and paid liars, manufacturing a reality that never existed, sending America’s vast military power spinning in circles, eventually toward ruin and defeat.

Once, long ago, intelligence involved people, talking, listening, learning, finding threats but also recognizing opportunities as well.

I saw it in Vietnam, we learned what the people felt, what they wanted, how they valued peace and freedom, we learned but nobody listened.

Instead, we bombed. Today we war with robot planes called “drones,” whose only purpose is to prove to a world in need of a human face that America has no human face.

Now, today, there is a challenge to the “geeks,” a move to send abroad an army of spies, seen as a threat to the world by many but those of us “in the community” know better.

The CIA’s “lie machine” will, inevitably be seduced, be overtaken, be defeated by an enemy they could never understand. That enemy is understanding, learning, seeing and touching the real world, not glaring from afar.

So often, I turn to H.G. Wells and his quote from War of the Worlds:

“No one would have believed…that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as men… were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.”

Press TV: Coup and counter-coup in Washington

Coup and counter-coup in Washington

General David Petraeus, former CIA director

By Webster G. Tarpley and Press TV

“The pro-Obama group wants to avoid large conventional commitments. They want to rely on cyber-warfare, drones, assassinations, bombing, raids by special forces, and economic warfare in the form of trade sanctions and technology embargoes.”

Sometimes, generals purge politicians. In 1648, during the English Civil War, Colonel Pride and his troops removed those members of the Long Parliament who opposed military domination; the puppets who remained were called the Rump Parliament.

This year, a cabal of generals evidently believed it could secure the White House for Mitt Romney by staging the Benghazi incident and using it as the signal for a cold coup under cover of elections — probably including computer-generated election fraud — to bring down Obama. They guessed wrong.

Politicians sometimes purge generals. When the French Secret Army Organization (OAS) staged a putsch in Algiers in April 1961 to prevent the independence of Algeria, President de Gaulle had to round up and jail a number of generals and other officers. The Obama administration and its establishment controllers appear to be ousting a number of intelligence and military officials who took part in illegal operations to replace Obama with Romney. These sackings are being presented to the public under the guise of soap opera sexual infractions or expense account padding, in the hope of hiding some real mechanisms of power from the popular gaze. The outgoing US military cabal favors the extension of colonial wars, like those in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as an attack on Iran. Good riddance.

Joe Wolverton, II, J.D. ~ The Other Petraeus Scandal: Accelerated Militarization Of The CIA

The New American | November 14 2012

Why do the powerful cheat?” That is the headline of an article published by USA Today reporting on the alleged extramarital affair carried on by CIA Director General David Petraeus that resulted in his resignation.

That is a sociologically interesting question regarding the lives of eminent men, but a more important question to the political life of our Republic is why powerful men such as Petraeus and his recently reelected boss cheat on their oaths of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Arguably, it was Petraeus’ pursuit of a more overtly military role for the intelligence agency that will be his most devastating legacy.

As Robert Wright says in an Atlantic article:

When, in the fall of 2011, David Petraeus moved from commanding the Afghanistan war effort to commanding the CIA, it was a disturbingly natural transition. I say “natural” because the CIA conducts drone strikes in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and is involved in other military operations there, so Petraeus, in his new role, was continuing to fight the Afghanistan war. I say “disturbingly” because this overlap of Pentagon and CIA missions is the result of a creeping militarization of the CIA that may be undermining America’s national security.

This trend was clear during the Bush administration, but it accelerated under President Obama, who greatly expanded drone strikes, and it reached a kind of symbolic culmination when Obama nominated this four-star general to run things at Langley. That would have been the perfect time to reflect on the wisdom of the convergence of the CIA’s and Pentagon’s jobs. But, instead, the network of journalists, think tankers, public officials and others who constitute the foreign policy establishment preserved their nearly unblemished record of not focusing on the biggest questions.

An example of this acceleration of the CIA’s role in military operations was provided in a Wired magazine report that 333 drone strikes have been carried out in Afghanistan this year. Notably, the lead on carrying out these attacks has been assumed by the CIA under Petraeus’ watch. The Wired story reports:

“The difference between the Afghan operation and the operations in Pakistan and elsewhere come down to the fundamental differences between open military campaigns and covert campaigns run by the intelligence community. It shapes everything from the level of transparency to the command and control to the rules of engagements to the process and consequences if an air strike goes wrong,” e-mails Peter W. Singer, who runs the Brookings Institution’s 21st Century Defense Initiative. (Full disclosure: I have a non-resident fellowship there.) “This is why the military side has been far less controversial, and thus why many have pushed for it to play a greater role as the strikes slowly morphed from isolated, covert events into a regularized air war.”

The military has 61 Predator and Reaper “combat air patrols,” each with three or four robotic planes. The CIA’s inventory is believed to be just a fraction of that: 30 to 35 drones total, although there is thought to be some overlap between the military and intelligence agency fleets. The Washington Post reported last month that the CIA is looking for another 10 drones as the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) become more and more central to the agency’s worldwide counterterror campaign.

Domestic terrorism in US linked to FBI (Video)

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 2, 2012 by Spartan of Truth

From Press TV

According to an analyst, the FBI and other departments in the US are involved in recruiting domestic terrorists and many of them consider themselves above the law.

The Homeland Security department is being sued for breach of freedom of information in relation to secret drones that are being used to spy on American citizens as well as its intrusive methods of interrogating US citizens and foreign diplomats.

Press TV has interviewed Mr. Gordon Duff, Senior Editor of Veterans Today, Ohio, who provides his views on this issue. The following is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: As an American… we know that America uses drones in several Muslim countries, now it is being used in the United States. As an America citizen, how do you feel?

Duff: Well, the issue with the drones in the US may be a little overblown. The project itself is run by companies that I am affiliated with in some ways.

The drone program is run on the southern border of Fort Huachuca in Arizona. The real program isn’t a drone program, it’s actually an aerostat program – these are balloons that are thousands of feet in the air that use extremely sophisticated radar. They’re designed by Lockheed Corporation and they are a thousand times more intrusive than the drones are.

The drones use very primitive cameras, very primitive electronics and the aerostats are a thousand times more serious.

The Electronic Freedom Foundation on the other hand, part of their suit involves the interception of diplomats, everyday citizens and their intrusive questioning at the border.

This last Friday, Imran Khan who is likely to be the new President of Pakistan was stopped from flying in to the US, put in detention and interrogated.

Last year, one of my own friends who was at the time employed by the State Department as the head of counter intelligence in Iraq was put in immigration security and questioned for hours though he had been in the FBI for 35 years.

I certainly get searched every time I come in. The issue is that we are put through humiliating circumstances and that often includes diplomats, it includes members of our own military and security services, means that Homeland Security believes they are above the law and I think the Electronics Freedom Foundation should be supported in their attempt to bring Homeland Security into line.
